At Hambleton Equine Clinic we aim to make the MRI referral process as straightforward as possible for you and your client. We also understand that no two referrals are the same, so are very happy for you to call us and discuss the case before referring.
We welcome referrals on both an outpatient basis and for complete lameness evaluation. Wherever possible, please provide a complete clinical history and any diagnostic images already taken.
Shoe removal and radiographic metal check will be required prior to MRI, which is usually done at the clinic and all patients are catheterised (IV) and sedated for the duration of the scan.
MRI service options:
Single region MRI (including contralateral limb if necessary) e.g. unilateral or bilateral front foot scan.
Multiple region MRI (including contralateral limb if necessary) e.g. front foot, pastern and fetlock scan
Full referral of case, to include imaging, further work up if necessary, image interpretation and treatment as required. We usually discuss cost directly with your client in these cases to ensure they are happy to proceed.
Optional outpatient case image reporting. For outpatient cases, image reporting to the referring vet, telephone discussion regarding treatment and prognosis, with or without direct feedback to your client is optional. If requested, we will ensure all reporting to you and your client in regard to the case is done within 48hrs of completing the scan.
We advise clients to return to their own vet for patient treatment.
