As part of an effort to clarify dental services here at Hambleton Equine Clinic, we are now enacting some changes to how our services are provided and charged. Our long-established dental zone visits are popular, and this is a service we would like to continue to offer for the convenience of our clients. Similarly, many clients take advantage of the discounts offered for multiple horses seen in a single visit. We would therefore like to offer clarity on how the zone visits work and what is included in the standard dental charge.
Zone visits
Our dental team aim to offer reduced visit charges on a “zone scheme”, where concentrating our resources in particular areas on particular days enables us to offer this service. To make this workable, the following conditions apply:
- Dental zone visits are available within our visit areas 1-3.
- When booking a dental zone visit, stipulation of a particular clinician is not available – for this service a routine visit fee will apply.
- Payment is required prior to the visit for a zone fee to apply.
- Specifying a time window is not available on a zone visit fee – for this service a routine visit fee will apply.
- Additional procedures (excluding vaccinations and blood samples) are not available on a zone visit fee – for this service a routine visit fee will apply.
Standard dental charges
We offer the full range of dental treatments at the highest standard. However, with the variety of dental treatment offered it is important to know just what is included in our “routine dental” charges. Additional procedures will be charged; however our
clinicians will let you know if additional procedures need performing and an estimate of the costs can be given prior to carrying them out. A “routine dental” includes:
- A “standard” sedation dose – this will not exceed 0.7 ml of detomidine and 0.7 ml of butorphanol. Excess sedation will be charged accordingly.
- A full dental examination with mirrors.
- Standard rasping and balancing of sharp enamel overgrowths and minor occlusal wear abnormalities.
- A full examination and treatment report
