Advanced Dental Care Services.
Our ever-increasing understanding of equine dental pathology means we now know that many horses require more than a general rasping and balancing. This may be treatment of painful periodontal disease and diastemata (pathological gaps between teeth), imaging and assessment of deeper tooth structures using the latest digital radiography, endodontic restorations of tooth internal structures, through to tooth extractions. We have the facilities, equipment and most importantly, training and experience to perform these procedures to the highest standards.
When it comes to diagnosing oral and maxillofacial disease, we have an excellent range of diagnostic equipment. Oral endoscopy enables us to not only visually-assess oral pathology in detail, but enables horse owners to see problems that are usually hidden from their view. It also enables endoscopically-guided dental procedures such as dental screw placement. This, coupled with the latest digital radiography, gives us a great diagnostic toolkit to offer horses under our care.
Our experience and training allows us to offer a holistic treatment approach to cranio-dental disease, with consideration of all the structures that may be affecting the problem horse. From the teeth to the jaw joint, the hyoid apparatus and sinuses; the relationship between these structures is always taken into consideration. The intimate association between a horse’s teeth and its sinuses mean that dental disease often occurs alongside sinus disease. We have surgeons experienced in both minimally-invasive endoscopic surgical treatments, as well as more radical procedures sometimes necessary to treat sinus disorders.
